Starter of Game

Seth was asked to be the Starter of the Game for the last home Checkers Game.  He was so excited.  We got to go through the security entrance, fed hot dog, walk underneath where the players go, and skate on the ice.  He got to sit on the bench during warm ups and stand on the blue line during the national anthem.  Lots of fist pounds too.

Waiting on the bench for the players to come out

Looking up at the cool score board

Players speaking to him on the bench.  #11 is the captain for the team.  Seth was being a little shy.

Walking out after the team to go on the ice.  He was fist pounding the fans like the Checkers were.

Close up that I almost missed

Neat seats for the game

He loved all of this.  He was so excited.  Alittle unsure at first but he is my child that likes to know what is happening and he didn't want to do anything wrong.  He was all smiles and bouncing after his time on the ice.

Thanks Susan, Lori and Cooper, Mom and Dad for coming to the game to support Seth.  (Noni and Popa took Garrett to his practice so we could go to the game with Seth)  Thanks Noni and Popa for giving up your chance to see Seth so Jeff and I could go and taking Garrett too.

It will be hard to sit in regular seat again now that we have been treated so great last night and then sitting in the suite seats that a friend let us have.

Great Fun - So pround of Seth.

Can't wait

Well the boys can't wait but Jeff can't say that anymore.  He got to ride the new Intimadator ride at Carowinds today.

This is the big drop

Carowinds has been building this for over a year.  It is named after Dale Ernheart.  It is said to go 75 miles per hour.  Seth was measuring this morning and had Jeff check the height requirements.

Well Jeff said it was blast.  We just can't wait

Yikes

Another week has gone by and no blogging.  What is happening.  I have great intentions at the beginning of the week, then crazy schedule breaks out and it is Monday or Tuesday again.   We were able to go to the Checkers game on Saturday night.  It was CMHA hockey night at the game.  The boys were introduced during the periods and got to skate on the ice.  They were super excited.  It was also Breast Cancer night so the Checkers were in pink and blue jerserys.

A nice friend of our gave us his companies Suite tickets.  So nice.  Great seats.  We thought we were special.

Seth and I got new hats to wear.

This is Seth.  He just got introduced.  Garrett is the next in line with the red helmet.

Do you see both of the Weddine Boys?  Nice they were standing beside each other.
Since it was Breast Cancer night, Chubby had pink hair.  Ella wasn't with us so I knew she would want to see Chubby.

This was the suite that we were in.  Plenty of seats, room to move around during the game, up high so that you didn't have to look through the glass, and comfortable seats.

Here is another angle.  It looks like you are in a hotel room.  You even have a person to push the elevator buttons for you.  This is how the other people live.  What a way to watch a game.

The Checkers even won the game.  FUN night.

Beautiful Weekend

Well Spring is beginning to come.  It is still cold to me but the sun is out and it is nice.  We had some running to do yesterday.  We had to be back at church but didn't have enough time to come back home.  So we decided to visit a playground at my old school.  Here is the fun.
A seesaw.  Not to many playgrounds have these anymore.  She was amazed.

Everybody had to seesaw with Ella because she didn't want to get off.

She is really good at the monkey bars.

The boys decided to play basketball.

Is Jeff giving directions?
You can see how tall Garrett is.  His dad only has a year or so left.

We enjoyed being outside as a family.  Having Jeff with us was nice.  The boys played, the girls played then we played some together.

Some random pictures I found:

This is Garrett waiting for the doctor.  He had a fungus on his chin like athelete's foot.  This is Ella at the doctor when it is not her turn.   Laughs, talks, smiles.  Different story when it is her turn.

This is the best brother.  We were waiting for a car inspection.  She wants up to see what he is doing and he kindly agrees.  Thanks for being a great brother Garrett.

It is all about this . .

Everyone is working on a craft project.  It is fun to see all of them right there together.  Ella was doing alittle more bugging than working but we were having the best time.

We have begun Lent for Easter.  Garrett, Jeff and I have given up different things for these 40 days of Lent.  We started on Ash Wednesday but I just found a site that suggested a countdown calendar just like we did at Christmas.  The children will draw an envelope each day that has different activities on it.
Garrett has done very well with this challenge.  I am very proud of him.  After these 40 days, I pray that our hearts will be more focused on him.  I want us to examine our heart and life, something that will lead me to appreciate more the suffering and death of my dear Lord and Savior, and create in me a pure heart.  I want to get excited about Easter as I do about Christmas.  There will be more to come as we go through these days leading up to Easter.

Hockey Tournament and a visit

I got the pictures from my aunt so I am able to share our weekend several weeks ago in Greenville, NC.  By the way, it is a long ride.  It is 4 hours but it seems like 40 hours.  Not fun.  Garrett had hockey playoffs.  The best thing was that my cousin daughter goes to ECU so we were able to visit as well.
This is Ella changing clothes.  She needed her ECU shirt to wear.

This is my child.

Silly monkey

This is Garrett, Erica and her boyfriend Ronnie, who also goes to ECU.

Ronnie's dorm room.  Remember the days.

Erica's room

Ella took over Erica's TV to watch Phineas and Ferb.  We love that show.  We even met the creator of the show back in the spring.

Little Miss
Back to hockey now

This is my child, who looks huge on the ice with all his equipment.

This was the score at one point in the game.  We were winning and by 3 goals.  Well all good things must come to an end.  Yes, the other team ended up  scoring 3 goals to tie the game.

It was a fun season.  This was Garrett's last skate with his Select team.  This was the first year to check and to be checked.  He loves it.  He is fun to watch.  He played Offense for most of the season but in the last two games of these playoffs, his coach moved him to defense and WOW!  What a great job he did.
It was a great weekend.  We roomed in the hotel with my aunt, cousin, my mom, Garrett and Ella.  It is enjoyable to hang out with family.  It was fun to visit Erica in her new life as a college student.  Thanks everyone for your support of Garrett and Seth through this year of hockey.
A Great Weekend.
I still pull for ASU even though my children now own ECU t-shirts.  I love you ERICA.

New equipment

Garrett could not wait for this package to arrive.  We ordered some in December for Christmas but they were too little so we had to send them back.  Then I waited for Jeff to help me with the size.  It has happened.  The order was placed.  But waiting for the snailmail to delivery can be dreadful.  They were shipped from California.
this is funny
and. . .  and . . . and. . .
New HUGE hockey gloves.  I think his dad could wear them.  They are HUGE.  I forget how big he is sometimes.  Which we wanted a little growing room.  He has a game tonght.  Do you think he will play better?

Weekend Events

Saturday morning Garrett had a hockey game.  So we were up and going very early.  We found out that Appalachian played UNCC in a hockey tournament at the Extreme Ice.  We decided to go.  Seth's coach plays for UNCC and of course we love App.  What an action packed, fast paced game.  FUN
The sweatshirt Ella has on was Garrett's, then Seth's and now little Missy

Hopefully Garrett or Seth will be skating for this team on day
The little ones

This is Seth's coach leaning down ready for the face off

App won 6-2 in a incredible game.  WOW!  I think as a mom I can handle the checking, falling, and roughness of this sport as my kids get older.  I sure do love to watch the game in person.
